  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed and divided
  • 1 quart fresh strawberries


  • In a bowl, beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer until fluffy.
  • Add sour cream and two tablespoons of brown sugar; beat until smooth.
  • Reserve one berry for garnish; halve the remaining berries and arrange them evenly on the bottom of a shallow 8-inch round broiler-proof dish.

  • Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of brown sugar evenly over the cream mixture.
  • Broil 4 to 5 inches from the heat for 1 to 2 minutes or until the sugar turns golden brown.
  • Slice the reserved berry and arrange it atop the dessert.
  • Serve immediately.
