Hospital bag
- Front-button or zip-front pajamas (2 sets)
- Soft button-front shirt for going home
- Loose pull-on pants
- High-rise cotton underwear (1-2 sizes up, 5+ pairs)
- Front-zip soft bra (no underwire)
- Slip-on shoes
- Robe (button-front or wrap)
- Toiletries (fragrance-free)
- Phone charger with long cord
- Lip balm
- Drain-management camisole or top with internal pockets
- Earbuds
- Tablet or e-reader
- Insurance card and ID
- Updated medication list
- A pillow for the seatbelt on the ride home
Home prep before surgery
- Lay out 5 days of comfortable clothes within easy reach
- Move daily-use items to chest height (no overhead reaching)
- Stock the freezer / meal-train
- Set up a recovery station near the recliner (water, meds, phone, remote)
- Install a handheld showerhead if needed
- Pre-fill prescriptions
- Schedule the first post-op appointment in advance
- Confirm rides for the first week
